I became a physical therapist because I was already a patient, not in the clinical sense, but in the way that every athlete who pushes their body to its limits eventually becomes a student of it. Years of elite endurance competition, including a 1,000-kilometer expedition race through Vietnam and a 450-mile wilderness crossing in the American West, taught me things no textbook could: how the body signals distress long before it breaks down, how nutrition and movement are not separate disciplines but a single conversation, and how much is possible when you treat the whole system instead of just the symptom.
That conviction became a career. For more than twenty years, I've worked as a licensed Physical Therapist, founding Brown Physical Therapy and Heal Through Food in Sacramento, an integrative practice that brought functional nutrition and orthopedic care under one roof, long before that was a trend. I've treated over 5,000 patients, taught anatomy and biomechanics at the college level, mentored doctoral-level clinicians, and coached runners from their first 5K to 50-mile ultras. Now, as a doctoral candidate in Functional Nutrition, I'm completing research I consider the most important of my career: developing the first standardized clinical protocol to prevent muscle loss caused by GLP-1 weight-loss medications, because what happens to muscle happens to movement, and I've spent two decades watching that connection be overlooked.
Heal Through Food is where I bring all of it together for you. Not as a lecture, but as a conversation, grounded in science, shaped by real clinical experience, and built on the belief that food and movement are the two most powerful tools most people never fully learn to use. Whether you're managing a chronic condition, navigating a health transition, or simply trying to feel better in your body, you deserve guidance that treats you as a whole person. That's what I'm here for.
